Star Sports, known as India's Home of Cricket, has once again emerged as the most popular destination for cricket viewership across formats for both men and women. The channel has witnessed impressive growth in cricket viewership in 2022, with India's opening match against Pakistan in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup and the 1st Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia breaking records. Star Sports is preparing for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 and is optimistic about bringing the country together to enjoy its favourite sport on television.

The match between India and Pakistan in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup on February 12 garnered a cumulative reach of 28 million viewers. This match recorded a total of 1.39 billion minutes with 7.3 million average minute audience (AMA), making it the second most-watched women's T20 game, second only to the India-Australia finale played in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2020. The 1st Test of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia also received impressive viewership figures, breaking into the top three for most-watched bilateral test matches in the last five years.

Sanjog Gupta, Head of Sports at Disney Star, attributes the impressive viewership figures to Star Sports' brand of storytelling expressed through compelling marketing campaigns and riveting programming, which has fueled the stature of the events. Star Sports has consistently delivered record-breaking viewership in cricket, including a 16% increase in Asia Cup 2022 viewership, 25% higher rating for ICC T20 World Cup 2022, and 30-40% higher rating for both India versus Australia and India versus South Africa matches. With a busy cricket calendar that includes Tata IPL 2023, Asia Cup 2023, ICC Men's World Cup 2023, and more, Star Sports is optimistic about bringing the nation together to enjoy its favourite sport on television.
