On Friday, the Board
of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) revealed the schedule for the TATA
Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. The upcoming season will return to the
traditional home and away format, with all teams playing 7 home and 7 away
games each during the league stage. The tournament will feature a total of 70
league stage matches across 12 venues over 52 days.
The 16th edition of
IPL will commence on March 31, 2023, with an exciting match between Gujarat
Titans and Chennai Super Kings at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium, the
largest cricket stadium in the world. The first double-header day of the
tournament will take place on April 1, 2023, where Punjab Kings will face off
against Kolkata Knight Riders in Mohali, and Lucknow Super Giants will compete
against Delhi Capitals in Lucknow.
During the TATA IPL
2023, there will be 18 double-headers, with the day games commencing at 3:30 PM
IST and evening games starting at 07:30 PM IST. Rajasthan Royals will play
their first two home games in Guwahati before moving to Jaipur for their
remaining home games. Meanwhile, Punjab Kings will play their first five home
games in Mohali and then conclude their last two home matches in Dharamshala
against Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals, respectively.
The schedule and
venues for the Playoffs and Final will be announced at a later date. The TATA
IPL 2023 Final will be held on May 28, 2023.
